Hi! Kelden here.
Hurricane Ike is heading almost straight for us and so we are under a mandatory evacuation. We are planning to leave in a few hours for houston where we will bunker down in our friends Karen's house. Nick has already covered up our back windows and I've been backing up anything of importance and moving it to the top of my closet. Mom is running around taking pics of the house before it goes bye-bye. I think we are currently looking at a 10-14' storm surge (just so you know our house is about 12' above the sea level). The water has already started rising, but the storm won't make landfall till early Sat.
It's alot like Hurricane Rita, four years ago, when everyone evactuated and it took some people over eight hours just to get to Austin. But Rita took a turn to the north at the last sec and all we got was wind & rain.
anyway, I'll keep you guys posted on what's going on (at least untill the power goes out)
oh, and let us know what you think our new house should look like!! xD

edit - here's some pics of our yard right before we leave. you can see that the water is already coming over the rocks

Kelden,
Thank you for the local storm update. I was expecting you guys would have to bail out. I am sorry to miss the action! Glad the chicks are going to be safe with Bob and Annabelle! AJ and I will be keeping watch on the news. You should have some interesting stories to share from this adventure! Stay safe and sound. love, Aunt Michelle
