Kev went in for his PET scan on Tues. It went OK given that delays kept us there 4 hours later than planned, but we did manage to get his Methadone Rx refilled. He was so tired by the time we got home he fell asleep early and slept in late on Wed. I think he finally got up about 2 pm. All the Drs. appointments are lined up for Monday so that will likely be another long day. Blood work is scheduled for morning then we have appointments with Social Work, Palliative Care and then Target Therapy at 4:00. If Kev’s lab work is good then the plan is to start a new trial – a combination of Revlimid & Depakote. Kev’s been taking Cipro as a prophylactic antibiotic and it seems to be doing its job – no signs of infection, but we’ll find out for certain with the labs.
We haven’t taken Kev out much for entertainment purposes these last few months, but Friday was the kid’s high school’s first home football game and he was up for going. (For all you non-Texas folks, high-school football in TX is big.) So we arrived early to avoid traffic jams, get a good parking spot and minimize maneuvering his chair through crowds. Nick usually always goes with us to watch his sister march, but this weekend he went to Fort Worth for a sailing regatta. Kev has a tradition with ball games and movies – snacks – and Nick always volunteers to stand in line at half-time to buy Kev his hot dog, popcorn and Coke. The Districts Stadium seats 9500 and I was not looking forward to the half-time queue so I loaded him up with the usual before the game started. The home team won although the first quarter looked more like fumble-ball than football, but the highlight was watching the marching band’s half-time show (Kelden plays flute). We left after 3rd quarter and all in all it was a good time.
