Hi Kevin & Deneen,
My name is George Clark. I'm a friend of Sam's. I've been hearing about Kevin's battle with cancer for a while now and quietly hoping for the best. I am also battling cancer. I have small bowel adnocarcinoma. Right now I'm feeling quite well but according to my doctors I will eventually be in Kevin's position.
So, I am looking into alternative cancer treatments. I'm pretty excited about a book that I'm reading now which describes an anti cancer diet among other things. The book is called 'AntiCancer A New Way of Life' by David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD. The author is a medical doctor who had cancer himself and he describes why and how each of the anti cancer foods work. He is also clear about why your oncologist does not tell you about all these treatments. Basically, there is a lot of evidence showing that these foods work to fight cancer but they have not been put through the complete human clinical trials process because no one is willing to put up the billions required for something that can't be patented. For instance, you can't patent curcumin. Anyway, I highly recommend this book. And, as the author says, none of these foods will hurt you because humans have been eating them for thousands of years.
A little more background on myself. Twenty years ago I had Testicular cancer and eventually reached the point where my doctor considered me incurable. I lost track of the number of times he told me "there's nothing I can do". So, I turned to alternative therapies. I can't say exactly what cured me but I'm pretty sure the 'alternative' stuff was a big help. When I told my oncologist about one of the alternative programs I was involved in he told me "they're just selling hope". I didn't bother to tell them that that was better than what he was selling.
